Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is nominated as Best French Player Abroad in the UNFP awards, but Theo Hernandez, Marcus Thuram and Benjamin Pavard are snubbed.

The UNFP Trophees is the French equivalent of the PFA Awards and the nominations were announced today.

There is a specific award for Best French Player Abroad and the only Serie A representative is Maignan, despite having arguably his worst season in the Milan jersey.

The other nominees are Real Madrid pair Edouard Camavina and Aurelien Tchouameni, Arsenal’s William Saliba and the absolute favourite to take the trophy, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid.

Maignan gets the nod

Maignan’s Milan teammates Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud are left out, but the more surprising snubs are for Inter duo Thuram and Pavard, considering they won the Scudetto at a canter.

Thuram in particular has flourished in the Nerazzurri jersey with 12 goals and 12 assists in his debut Serie A season.

He found the net 14 times and assisted another 13 in 43 competitive appearances for Inter this term.
