Top NFL Draft analyst lays out worst case scenario for Will Levis and Titans in 2024

With the 2024 NFL Draft in the rearview, some people are already turning their attention to what the 2025 draft class will look like.

The Athletic's NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler just released an early mock draft for 2025 and made predictions for how the Titans' season might go.

But if Brugler’s mock draft ends up being somewhat accurate, it’ll be the worst case scenario for the Titans and second-year quarterback Will Levis.

Brugler has the Titans selecting Georgia quarterback Carson Beck with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck is the early favorite to be the top quarterback in next year's class.

"If the Titans are drafting this high next April, the organization might be re-examining its quarterback situation," wrote Brugler.

Yep, that's right. In order for the Titans to be picking second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, you're probably looking at a 3-4 win season and that's the kind of prediction we're talking about here. That's where some national media members believe the upcoming season could be headed in Tennessee.

In that sense, Brugler is spot on in his assessment. If the Titans lose enough games to be sitting with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, it's likely that the 2024 season was a disaster for Will Levis. 

The Titans front office has made it a priority this offseason to surround Levis with the talent he needs to succeed. They paid DeAndre Hopkins last offseason and spent big on Calvin Ridley this offseason. They have used back-to-back first round draft choices on offensive linemen to protect his blindside. They hired an offensive minded head coach with a history of success working with young quarterbacks. 

Given all of that help, if Will Levis and the Titans finish 3-14 or 4-13 in 2024 and get the second overall pick, he won't be the team's starting quarterback next year. 

Do I think that's likely to happen? Definitely not. I'm a Will Levis believer and have high expectations for the Titans in 2024. At the very least, a team that improved so much in the offseason after finishing 6-11 should at least be flirting with a wild card spot in the second year of a quarterback's rookie contract. But weirder things have happened.

If the Titans flop that badly in 2024, at least you've got your answer on Levis' future with the team. But Tennessee would definitely be in a much better spot if Levis continues to look like the guy long term.
