D.J. Wonnum Agrees to Deal with Panthers
USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers are finally getting some pass rush help after losing their top three sack producers from the 2023 season in Brian Burns (Giants), Frankie Luvu (Commanders), and Yetur Gross-Matos (49ers).

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, free agent defensive end/outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum is planning to sign a two-year deal with the Panthers.

Wonnum is coming off the best season of his four-year career, tallying 62 tackles, 15 QB hits, eight sacks, seven tackles for loss, six passes defended, and one fumble recovery. For his career, he's notched 23 sacks and 49 QB hits.

The Chicago Bears were also in the mix, but Wonnum opts to play a little closer to home by inking with Carolina. The 26-year-old is from Stone Mountain, Georgia which is a little over four hours away from Charlotte. He played his high school ball just down the road at South Carolina from 2016-19.
