Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: Anonymous Members Within the Team Were Reportedly Frustrated at Jarrett Allen for Refusing to Do This 1 Thing

The Cleveland Cavaliers are eliminated from the 2024 NBA playoffs after losing to the Boston Celtics in five games of the second round, and untimely injuries to their key players played a huge role.

Donovan Mitchell (calf), Jarrett Allen (rib), and Caris LeVert (knee) were all sidelined in Game 5, as they watched their team lose with a score of 113-98 on Wednesday night.

If they were healthy, many argue that this series is going to be more competitive, but now they’re heading to the offseason with a lot of uncertainty.

This is the case, particularly for their center Jarrett Allen, who didn’t play at all in the Eastern Conference semifinals due to a rib injury he picked up in Round 1.  And according to an in-depth report from The Athletic , some members of the Cleveland Cavaliers were frustrated with Allen for ‘refusing an injection to try and numb the pain and play’ through his injury.

Jarrett Allen is not the type to miss games as he played in 81 consecutive games this season before the rib knock, so for him to miss the entire second round might mean that his injury is more serious than we think.

Jarrett Allen for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season

As mentioned, Jarrett Allen had his healthiest season as a Cleveland Cavaliers player, as he played 77 regular-season games and four playoff games this year.

In the regular season, he averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game on 63.4 percent shooting. In the postseason, Allen’s averages were 17.0 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on 67.6 percent shooting.

It’s easy to feel for the Cleveland Cavaliers because of Jarrett Allen’s  elite rim protection and rebounding. Without him, the Cleveland Cavaliers had to heavily rely on Evan Mobley to fill in the void.
